Gruen “Airflight Precision” 24 hour jumping hours model circa 1960. Very unusual and interesting model featuring a large for the era 35mm diameter case with bold extended lugs and with screw down case back. The dial displays normal hours 1-12 and jumps to military hours 13-24 through windows on the dial. Original beautiful condition glossy silver satin dial with baseball diamond pattern and oversized stylized gilt hands. Powered by 17 jewel manual wind movement with sweep seconds.

This is the best configuration available of this model with an all stainless steel case and screw down case back. Other versions feature either gold plated or rhodium plated base metal bezel. Additionally, not all versions have the very cool baseball diamond design.

Gruen was the official watch brand for Pan American Airways, and produced the popular Pan American 24 hour dial models in the 1950’s. This model was intended to be used by pilots as the jumping hour disk provides a direct and non confusing display of 24 hour time. We have previously owned one of these models with the American Airlines (AA) logo on the dial. (see photo included)
