A scarce stainless steel man’s Borel “Cocktail” watch circa 1960’s. The Borel cocktail watch is almost a “tongue in cheek” watch. It features a rotating center disk which creates a kaleidoscope, AKA psychedelic effect. The time is read by red painted hands that extend from behind the rotating disks.

These Borel cocktail watches were marketed heavily on Caribbean bound cruise ships in the 1960’s. Many of our parents bought these amusing watches while on vacation in the Bahamas, Jamaica, and other Caribbean destinations. They were produced predominantly in gold plated cases of various sizes and configurations in sizes for women and for men.

We have long been a fan of this model, but to the best of our recall, we have never seen one before in a stainless steel case. This is a large for the era model with 32 x 42mm case with sculpted design lugs and with screw down case back. This is the most elaborate and most visually compelling case design of the various mens models we have seen.

We have left the stainless steel case unpolished as acquired. There is some aging of the black background of the dial, but all the paint is intact with no chipping evident. The movement has been checked to be in excellent running condition and is offered with our 1 year warranty of accurate time keeping and operation. We have fitted the watch with a complementary period stretch bracelet. Alternatively, it can be fitted with a leather strap from our inventory.
