Offering a striking looking lady’s 26mm stainless steel Audemars Piguet Royal Oak model ref# 66270ST with tropical dial. The classic iconic Gerald Genta design Audemars Piguet Royal Oak is a sporty size lady’s stainless steel model, with a very sharp condition case and bracelet, and an original waffle dial that has aged and faded distinctly brown tones. The aging is not a result of water damage, as there is no darkening of the luminous characteristic of water exposure. There is a prominent “burn” mark on the dial where the hand must have sat for many years. We more commonly see such burn markers on radium lume dials from the 1940’s to the early 60’s, when radium was used on the hands and dial indexes. We presume this watch sat unattended for years, for the tritium lume hands to have burned a shadow on the dial like this.

The case and the bracelet are very sharp condition, left unpolished as acquired. While tropical dials are more associated with watches from the 60s and 70s, we observe that the “neo vintage” Royal Oaks from the 80’s with tropical dials are very much sought after.
