Offering a very desirable early vintage Breitling Navitimer ref 806 with AOPA logo circa 1957. This is a stunning early example of this iconic model featuring an all black dial with black registers, with all original nicely patina’d lume numbers and hands, and with original paint, unretouched hands. With a remarkable condition never polished case with wide beveled lugs and sharp edges. With early style beaded bezel, and original outer logarthim scale free of scratches, flaking or mold.

The dial is properly marked with the raised gold AOPA logo (Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association) and “Navitimer” in silver. Powered by Venus calibre 178, 3 registers manual wind movement, and signed Breitling crown. The movement is properly marked for the era with export mark BOW. The case serial # of 868,XXX dates the production of this model to 1957. However the 120 bead bezel is usually associated with production date of 1956, so this may be a bit of a transitional model with the case serial # corresponding to 1957 and the bezel to 1956.

This is a truly stunning example of this ever popular model. With clean dial, case, bright shiny plates of the movement, and in excellent operating condition. The only fault we see with this example is the shortened needle on the syringe hour hand. The extended needle is still present, but It appears to be a little shorter than the corresponding minute hand.

The movement winds smoothly with no scratching or slipping. The chronograph functions all record properly and zero out on reset. The bezel rotates freely, not loose and not tight. We do not see any evidence of moisture or corrosion on the watch.
