Incredibly rare Zenith Cronometro Tipo CP-2, circa 1960’s. Featuring a massive for the time 43mm diameter case with screw down case back, round pushers, and original crown. With original matte black dial with aged tritium arabic numerals and replaced tritium hands, and original faded elapsed time hours bezel.

This is the classic aviator’s chronograph, less well known than the Breguet Type XX or Flieger chronographs of the same era. This military chronograph was commissioned by the official retailer of the Italian Army, A. Cairelli-Roma, who’s signature can be found on both the dial and the caseback. In between 1960 and the early 1970’s Cairelli-Roma ordered only approximately 2500 pieces for the Italian Army.

This large and beautiful military issued two register chronograph is powered by the Zenith 146 DP manual wind movement. It is worn on gorgeous brown leather strap with tang buckle.
