A great looking vintage Rolex 18K YG Submariner ref 16808, serial #9.1 million circa 1986 with beautiful condition semi gloss black tritium lume nipple dial. This is the popular transitional model 18K gold Submariner with sapphire crystal and quick set caliber 3035 movement, but with early style “nipple” index dial with tritium lumes. The later examples of this model used the more contemporary design lume plots with gold surrounds. This model evolved into the 16618 reference using the updated 3135 movement, first with tritium lumes, but after 1998 with luminova indexes and hands.

The current example is a great looking example with previously polished, but beefy lug case, excellent condition 11 link bracelet with very good condition flip lock clasp with distinct raised Rolex logo, and with beautiful condition gloss black tritium lume dial with tritum lume hands. With an especially pleasing black elapsed time bezel that has aged to reveal subtle brown undertones. The model features the unidirectional elapsed time bezel. The bezel insert shows light surface scratches from use visible on close examination but no chips or gouges. The pearl has been replaced with a period pearl and is a bit lighter in tone.

Powered by calibre 3035 movement with quick set date. With excellent condition, previously polished non stretched 18K YG heavy Oyster ref# 92908 bracelet with flop lock clasp and J12 clasp date code corresponding to December of 1985. . Note the intact and pronounced raised logo on the clasp, a common area of wear on this era bracelet
