Personal Note, Bar Mitzvah Watch? We have a particular affinity for this model, and privately (not any more) refer to it as the “Bar Mitzvah” watch. 20+ years ago we bought one of this model from a gentleman who had received it for his Bar Mizvah, but who no longer wore it. He advised us his brother had also received the same watch for his Bar Mitzvah. A month or so later, the brother came in and we acquired the 2nd “Bar Mitzvah” watch. To the best of my recall, one, or both watches were personally engraved to the Bar Mitzvah boys and one or the other was dated 1961. Now the writer of this anecdote was also Bar Mitzvah’d in 1961, (You can do the math yourself) but I did not receive a gold Rolex as a gift. I did get a wad of envelopes from relatives and family friends, and a blue dial Timex electronic watch with white lettering and a date at 3, which I no longer have, and which has nothing to do with years later finding myself deeply immersed in the vintage watch business.
