A very desirable late production Rolex “Zenith” Daytona A7 serial number circa 1999. Featuring a “SWISS MADE” signed dial designating luminova as the luminous material of the dial and hands. A very good condition preowned model with perfect condition dial and hands and lumes, and with light surface scratches consistent with a 20+ year old watch. The 400 mph stainless steel tachometer bezel appears never polished, showing shallow surface scratches but retaining the original high polish mirror finish.

There is a small nick on the bezel between the words Unit and Per, and there is a small scratch in the crystal above the 9 0’clock register and a tiny flea bit at 6:30. These imperfections are visible in the photos but are less conspicuous in person and are mentioned for completeness of description.

As for provenance of this watch, we know that it was purchased at auction preowned at Butterfield Bonhams in Los Angeles in 2014. We do not have the original Rolex warranty papers. The watch is in excellent operating condition with excellent time keeping and all chronograph functions recording and resetting properly. Background

The Daytona began production in 1963 as a manual wind model and has been the iconic Rolex sport model ever since. The ref# 16520, or the “Zenith” Daytona, so named for its use of the famous Zenith El Primero caliber, was introduced in 1988 and features a larger diameter 39mm case with crown guards and sapphire crystal, and was the first Daytona powered by an automatic movement. The 16520 was in production until 2000, and was replaced by the ref 116520 which utilized a newly developed Rolex in house automatic movement. The current example luminova dial example is among the last of the Zenith Daytona models.
