An especially fine condition example Rolex stainless steel Oyster Quartz Datejust ref 17000 serial # 5.5 million circa 1978. Featuring a 36mm diameter case with smooth bezel, sapphire crystal, and scarce original gloss black tritium lume dial with applied silver indexes and silver baton hands. Dial correctly signed T SWISS T for original tritium lume indexes and hands which show a pleasing ivory patina. Dial surface is in excellent shape with no scratches, erosion or water spotting.
With Rolex stainless steel integral flat link Oyster quartz bracelet with deployment clasp. Watch shows only light surface scratches from use, but all case edges are remarkably sharp. The watch is entirely unpolished and shows the original frosty factory finish throughout. Very desirable in this condition and with original gloss black tritium dial.
Powered by calibre 5035 Rolex made quartz movement with sweep seconds and date. A great condition example from the design genius of Gerald Genta of Nautilus, Royal Oak, and Pasha fame. The Oyster Quartz model has become extremely popular in recent years due to its larger scale and flared 70’s design elements.
