Vintage Lemania 1 button flyback chronograph ref 4974 for the Swedish Air Force circa 1957. A great looking large 40mm diameter case with screw down caseback, asymmetrical case design with partially recessed oversize crown and single round pusher. Featuring a beautiful condition all original glossy black gilt dial with radium luminous indexes and hands. The dial is signed Lemania, with the Swedish crown logo, and TG 195. Our research indicates this is a relatively rare model distinctive in the operation of the base calibre 2225 16 jewel manual wind movement. The large sweep seconds runs continuously until depressed, causing the large sweep hand to reset to 0, and by means of a lever in the movement, pushing the crown out slightly for setting. Pushing in of the crown resumes the action of the sweep hand. There is no minutes register. Reportedly these models were used by the military bomb squad. The movement is completely encased in a dust cover shown in photos. The large calibre 2225 movement is in pristine condition with bright plates and without corrosion. The outside caseback bears the narrowly engraved 3 Swedish crown logo. This is our first exposure to this large and great looking model and think it is a quite remarkable piece. Wearing it recently, the reactions from other experienced dealers was quite remarkable. Clearly a rarely seen large and impressive model in super condition. As chronographs have continued to dominate the vintage watch market, with prices climbing exponentially, we see this piece as being a most desirable acquisition for some lucky collector.
