Featuring a beautiful condition dial free of scratches, discoloration or staining, a bright metallic finish red and blue 24 hour aluminum bezel in super condition, an unpolished case likewise in superb condition, and with beautiful condition later execution silver, red, and tritium lume Autavia hands.

The 2446C features a robust 41 x 47mm case, with large, beveled block lugs, snap down signed compressor caseback, round chronograph pushers, and a large Heuer signed crown. Powered by Valjoux caliber 724 manual wind movement. Early versus later execution 2446C GMTs. We refer you to a detailed article by Paul Gavin and published on Jeff Stein’s fine site, On the Dash. The current example is the early execution compressor case with signed Heuer Autavia case back, early execution dial with smaller registers, non serif print, and with tritium T designation at the 3 o’clock register. The bezel has the smaller teeth configuration and early execution round, and not fluted pushers. The hands are the later execution silver hands with tritium panels and red painted zones. The Gavin article is particularly instructive as it details how the various modification of components between early and later executions evolved, with many transitional variations and not discreet Mark 1, Mark 2 Mark 3, variations. We therefore have a high degree of confidence that all parts are original to the watch, with this example being a proper early execution model but later in production when the newer style hands were introduced. In this regard, we note the tritum lume of the hands closely matches the color of the lume of the dial, a pleasing pale yellow, and not greenish tone. All components of the watch are consistent and in fine condition including the case, the dial, the bezel, the pushers, the hands, and the movement. Overall a stunning and very desirable example.

We have seen many other examples of this model recently that fall short condition wise. Scratched up bezels and discolored or soiled dials seem to be common casualties on these models. The current example as detailed and shown here is quite a prized specimen.
