A rare and fine early version Glycine stainless steel Airman automatic GMT circa 1954-55. This model is the rarely seen matte silver dial version of the more commonly seen black dial Vietnam war era model of the 1960’s. Featuring a beautiful condition original matte silver dial with 24 hour military time, warmly patina’d luminous indexes, original small pencil style luminous hands, and signed on the dial “Glycine Airman Automatic” and retailer name Turler. With red date wheel, magnified by small cyclops window, and with tiny hacking wire revealed by a small hole in dial between the 2 and 4 of 24 at 12 0’clock position. Dial signed SWISS MADE designating radium as the luminous material.

This rare and fine early model features a 36mm diameter heavy screw back case with rotating elapsed time bezel which can be locked with a crown at 4 o’clock. The bezel features engraved 24 hour indications with original green luminous. The case features elongated and robust lugs measuring 45mm in length, which gives the watch a good sense of mass and scale. Powered by self winding Felsa 692N movement with sweep seconds and red date and with simple GMT hand. The 24 hour dial and 24 hour bezel provide 2 time zone timekeeping, each with 24 hour military time. Offered on your choice of leather or sporty style strap. Guaranteed genuine, just acquired from a military watch collection. In good running condition, but not serviced by us. Unpolished case, and to the best of our knowledge, all original dial and hands, case, and movement. A rare and great looking vintage model.
