Elgin yellow gold filled 16 size open face railroad grade 21 jewel pocket watch circa 1925. Featuring screw down case back and bezel, stem wind and lever set movement. With beautiful condition double sunk white enamel Montgomery dial free of cracks or hairlines, The so called Montgomery dial is a beautifully detailed dial with black and red enamel minutes designated at the edge of the dial. A very pleasing and attractive example vintage railroad grade pocket watch. Powered by Elgin grade BW Raymond 21 jewel movement. In excellent running condition and offered with our 1 year warrantee of accurate time keeping and operation.
NOTE: lever set pocket watches use a lever located under the screw off bezel to release the mechanism that locks the time setting feature. This is a protective device required of all railroad grade watches so that the time cannot accidentally be changed by the crown dislodging. This safety feature was required when strict standards of quality and accuracy were instituted in 1893 after the famous train crash outside Chicago.
