See Fratello.com for a recently published article on Olympic watches including the example offered here. As noted in the article, this model is previously undocumented, and it is unknown how many of these were produced and who they were presented to. We found it interesting that the enameled logo referred to the California Winter Olympics, rather than the “Squaw Valley” winter Olympics. To our knowledge, Olympic venues are always referred to by the city in which they are held, not the state or the country. Those of us who were around in 1960, remember these as the “Squaw Valley Winter Olympics!” A couple of other interesting notes; according to our research, the opening and closing ceremonies of the 1960 Winter Olympics were produced by Walt Disney Company and marked the first Hollywood style production style of the Olympics. Additionally, many Hollywood celebrities were brought in to entertain the athletes in the Olympic village. This Olympics also mark the first use of instant replay video.
